WELLINGTON, New Zealand (Radio New Zealand International, March 27, 2013) – Fifteen Cook Islands grassroots organizations have been given funding by the Government of India.

About US$170,000 has been approved for distribution to community groups which had been encouraged last year to apply for an India Grant Fund.

Proposals were assessed on a first-in, first-served basis and once the assessments were completed they were forwarded to the Indian Embassy in Fiji for consideration.

The Cook Islands Finance Minister Mark Brown says the Indian government was pleased with how the groups complied with all requirements.
