[Yap State News] Yap SDA School Holds “Creativity Week”

Yap Seventh-day Adventist School celebrated Creativity Week from Monday, February 11 to Friday, February 15, 2013. The purpose of this program is to express, promote and educate in the field of creativeness as well as originality of the students. Teachers worked with students to produce various arts and crafts; they also dressed accordingly to different themes of the day such as Career Day.

Yap Seventh-day Adventist School would also like to sincerely thank Mrs. Elizabeth Phal, Vice President of Yap Women’s Association; Mrs. Leona Tamag, Women’s Interest Officer of Women’s Interest Office; Yap High School; and Oscarson “Ozky” Ikalap, senior student of Yap High School for visiting the campus and participating in the Week’s ending events.

On Wednesday, Mrs. Elizabeth and Mrs. Leona presented local arts and crafts, some created by elementary students on-island. It was emphasized in the crafts’ importance and value especially to recycling and generating local revenue. On Friday, students displayed their finished works and Ozky concluded the Week by skillfully performing a fast-tempo Polynesian dance with two batons.

Yap Seventh-day Adventist School thanks the students, parents, YWA, WIO, YHS and Ozky for their support and cooperation in making Creativity Week ’13 a success.
