Last week, Governor Sebastian Anefal wrote a letter to Her Excellency Dorothea-Maria Rosen, US Ambassador to the Federated States of Micronesia, inviting her to join the 2013 Yap Day Festivities scheduled to take place in Colonia from March 1-2, 2013.

The Governor stated in the letter that the Yap Day Committee this year has expressed strong emphasis on utilizing the recently built Living History Museum in Colonia to display the culture and tradition that is so essential to the identity of Yap and her people.

He also mentioned that although the museum compound will be the main venue for the performance of traditional dances and other traditional events, much of Colonia will be utilized to showcase the festivities for the two-day celebration.

Governor Anefal concluded his letter saying to the Ambassador, “We believe there is no better opportunity than this year’s Yap Day Celebration for you to again visit Yap. Come join us and witness the festivities and the intended purposes of the Museum while renewing the ties of friendship between our two governments and peoples.”
