EIG and PUC Signs MOU to Upgrade Power Grid

Hamilton TWP., N.J.,/PRNewswire/—Energy Infrastructure Global, Inc., a design build Renewable Energy Infrastructure Firm, has announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Pohnpei Utilities Corporation (PUC) for Pohnpei State in the FSM for the renovation of the Island’s power grid with the implementation of Renewable Energy.

Jeffrey Voacolo, Managing Director for EIG stated: “EIG is honored that the PUC has selected our firm under this MOU to develop a PPA structure to renovate the Island’s antiquated diesel grid by supplying new efficient generators as well as providing alternative forms of Renewable Energy. The Island of Pohnpei State, under Governor John Ehsa’s leadership, is truly committed to showing the world how an Island Nation can lower their dependence on fossil fuels by implementing state of the art renewable energy technologies and thereby lowering the cost of energy for the entire community of Pohnpei.”

EIG’s design concept consists of the replacement of the entire existing diesel generating power plant by installing 4 MW of temporary generation, 7.5 MW of new highly efficient diesel generating power plant, the implementation of 3 MW of solar photovoltaic, 2 MW of battery storage and 750 kW of hydro power.
